Your Stripe Account Belongs to You

Connecting a payment processor through a platform doesn't mean you're locked in. Your Stripe account exists independently of Conference Suite — your transaction history, payouts, and customer data are yours and you can take them with you at any time.

How the connection works

When you onboard with Conference Suite, you connect a Stripe account via a Stripe Express setup. This gives Conference Suite scoped access to process payments on your behalf — creating products, charging registration fees, and issuing refunds.

Every transaction is logged on your Stripe account. Your payout schedule, bank account details, and full payment history live on Stripe — not inside Conference Suite. The money flows directly to you.

What you keep after disconnecting

  • Full transaction history — every charge, refund, and payout is permanently logged on your Stripe dashboard
  • Direct payouts — your bank account connection stays intact; Stripe continues payouts on your normal schedule
  • Customer records — any customer objects created during your time with Conference Suite remain on your account
  • Reporting and exports — your Stripe dashboard remains fully accessible for financial reporting and tax purposes

How to disconnect

Conference Suite uses platform controls on connected accounts, which means the disconnect must be initiated through us rather than directly from your Stripe dashboard. To disconnect, contact our support team and we'll handle it via the Stripe API. Once complete, no further action is needed on your end.

After disconnection, Stripe gives you the option to transition to a direct Stripe account, removing all platform controls and giving you full independent ownership going forward.

For full details on how connected account disconnection works, see the official Stripe documentation.

One thing to sort out first

If you have active attendee subscriptions (recurring registration fees) running through your connected account, discuss migration options with us before disconnecting. In most academic conference contexts registration is a one-time charge, so this rarely applies — but it's worth confirming.

The bottom line

Your Stripe account and everything in it — revenue history, customer records, payout settings — belong to you. Conference Suite provides the tooling and the connection. If you ever decide to move on, reach out and we'll handle the disconnect cleanly.
